Status This Week
No written Omni bargaining update dated during the 2026.09.12–2026.09.18 reporting window was located. The latest public status located remained the August 16 statement that the committee was developing proposals and expected to meet with the mediator within the following several weeks; no public confirmation of that meeting or its result was found by the cutoff.
Contract timing: CrewSignal has not located a verified public amendable date for Omni. The tracker therefore uses the first official bargaining session, 2022.06.07, as its clearly labeled benchmark. As of 2026.09.18, 4 years, 3 months and 11 days—1,564 days—had elapsed since that session. Members rejected the first tentative agreement on 2026.02.26; 6 months and 23 days—204 days—had elapsed since that vote.
Process Signals
- The public negotiations timeline still shows the January tentative agreement, February rejection and April member survey as the most recent formal milestones in the renewed process.
- The NMB weekly report did not identify a new Omni docket, reassignment, ratification or closure. That does not negate existing mediator involvement; an already-open case need not appear every week.
- Omni’s 2024 strike-authorization vote remains a bargaining-pressure and solidarity signal, not an independent right to strike. The renewed process must still produce a member-responsive agreement or proceed through the Railway Labor Act’s later statutory steps.
CrewSignal Assessment
Omni is a direct test of whether CWA-AFA’s professional negotiators, attorneys and cross-carrier resources can convert a rejected tentative agreement into a materially stronger second result. At 1,564 days since the first session, process activity alone is no longer an adequate measure.
The next public update should identify whether the mediator meeting occurred, which proposals were revised after the member survey and what changed in response to the 100–73 rejection. Without that record, the renewed bargaining strategy remains difficult to evaluate.
