Editor’s Note: CrewSignal uses public records to compare how unions structure, negotiate, communicate, and protect Flight Attendants during mergers and representation proceedings. It may raise questions supported by the record; it will not fabricate facts or state conclusions the evidence cannot establish. This report is informational and does not constitute legal, investment, or merger advice.
Status Summary
CWA-AFA’s October 30 report says the parties reached tentative agreements on Seniority (Alaska Section 6 / Hawaiian Section 9), LOA 14: Legacy Retiree Pass Privileges, and LOA 18: Retiree Health Insurance. These are individual tentative agreements, not an overall ratified JCBA or proof that joint benefits and work rules have taken effect.
The completed-session account places bargaining in Seattle on October 26–28, resolving the earlier October 26–28 versus October 27–29 schedule discrepancy. An internal inconsistency remains: the report’s narrative says four days, while its stated dates and the October 30 digest indicate three.
The October 30 account also confirms completion of October 14–15 Interest-Based Bargaining training led by an NMB mediator. That confirms an earlier training event; it does not establish a formal mediation case.
Integration Dashboard
- The union reports more than 1,000 reserve-survey responses, with review planned for November 6–9. Published findings and negotiated reserve provisions remain unestablished in this account. Grievance procedures, performance-based pay and retirement, training and other sections remain under discussion.
- The transition protocol links integrated seniority-list delivery to the JCBA effective date. A tentative Seniority section, full-agreement ratification, contractual effectiveness, list delivery and actual bidding or assignment changes remain distinct milestones.
- The October 29 safety-committee recap describes transition-training review and a February 2027 proving group for legacy-Alaska Flight Attendants on the 787, A321 and A330. Its cross-fleeting objective follows a JCBA; the announcement does not establish completed qualifications or mixed-fleet assignments.
- The NMB’s April 11, 2025 combined-craft certification and the company’s October 29, 2025 announcement of FAA single-certificate receipt remain separate carry-forward milestones. Neither determines common Flight Attendant contract terms.
CrewSignal Watch Points
- What do the tentative Seniority and retiree provisions actually provide, and how will their effective dates relate to the complete JCBA?
- What findings emerge from reserve-survey review, and what bargaining progress is reported after the scheduled November 16–18 session?
- When will the parties document full-agreement ratification, the JCBA effective date, seniority-list delivery and operational use separately?
- How will transition training, qualification approvals and scheduling implementation connect to the eventual JCBA?
