A post-negotiations member Zoom was scheduled for 2026.08.15 following the August 12–14 bargaining session. No written post-session bargaining account was located in the public sources reviewed through 2026.08.25, so CrewSignal does not infer a new tentative agreement, proposal exchange or change in the section count.
Contract timing: Public CWA-AFA sources say the prior four-year agreement was ratified on 2022.03.02 and identify March 2 as the contract anniversary. That supports 2026.03.02 as a working amendable-date marker, although the formal duration clause was not located in the sources reviewed. As of 2026.08.21, 5 months and 19 days—172 days—had elapsed beyond that marker. The opening proposal is dated 2025.11.17, 9 months and 4 days—277 days—before this report.
Process Signals
- The August 15 Zoom notice confirms a member briefing immediately after the August 12–14 session, but it does not provide a written bargaining result.
- The prior written update reported 15 tentatively agreed sections and identified additional work on Training and scheduling-related sections. CrewSignal does not increase that count without a later written recap.
- CWA-AFA’s PBS explainer states that preferential bidding remains a company proposal, has not been finalized or implemented, and would be voted on only as part of a complete tentative agreement.
CrewSignal Assessment
Piedmont is earlier in its post-amendable period than the long-running mediation cases, but bargaining began before the working March 2026 marker. The combination of an opener, repeated sessions, tentative agreements, member education and a post-session briefing demonstrates an active process; the missing written August result limits what can be credited this week.
CWA-AFA’s multi-carrier experience can be valuable when evaluating PBS and drafting work rules. The objective test is whether that expertise produces enforceable protections and a complete agreement on a timetable proportionate to the carrier’s comparatively recent amendable date.
