Contract timing: Avelo is bargaining a first agreement, so there is no contract amendable date. The NMB certified CWA-AFA representation on 2022.04.14. As of 2026.09.18, 4 years, 5 months and 4 days—1,618 days—had elapsed since certification while the first contract remained unresolved. Certification is not the first bargaining-session date and does not represent uninterrupted time at the table.
Process Signals
- The NMB’s September 14–18 weekly report listed a new Horizon Air docket but no new Avelo docket, reassignment, ratification or closure. An empty weekly entry does not establish inactivity in an already-open case.
- The NMB FY2027 budget justification continues to identify Avelo among CWA-AFA Flight Attendant mediation matters.
- Avelo’s public negotiations and news pages still do not provide a current proposal-by-proposal account. The visible January 2024 item remains the durable public marker for returning to bargaining after the mediation filing.
CrewSignal Assessment
At 1,618 days since certification, Avelo remains the longest unresolved first-contract clock in the conventional CrewSignal tracker. CWA-AFA’s systemwide expertise and pooled resources are relevant only if they produce an enforceable first agreement and a transparent explanation of the barriers delaying it.
The public record does not support assigning the entire delay to CWA-AFA, management or the NMB. It does support a stronger advocacy demand: members should receive a current account of sections settled, sections blocked, proposal responsibility and the timetable for the next mediated work.
