Status This Week
On 2026.08.28, CWA-AFA announced that Air Wisconsin and the union had reached a tentative agreement. The Air Wisconsin Master Executive Council voted unanimously to recommend a “Yes” vote. The public announcement describes a two-year term with an early opener at eighteen months; virtual roadshows were scheduled for September 1 and September 3, and voting was scheduled to run from September 1 at noon ET through September 14 at noon ET.
Contract timing: Air Wisconsin’s Flight Attendant agreement became amendable on 2022.10.01. As of 2026.08.28, 3 years, 10 months and 27 days—1,427 days—had elapsed since that amendable date. The current-round contract opener is dated 2022.08.16, 4 years and 12 days—1,473 days—before this report. CWA-AFA described the broader negotiations process as lasting more than five years; CrewSignal keeps that union characterization separate from the dated current-round opener and amendable-date clocks.
Process Signals
- The membership letter says all Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants received a 23 percent pay increase in January 2026 and that the negotiating committee secured an additional Letter of Agreement in May 2026. Those already-secured changes are distinct from the newly announced tentative agreement and should not be counted twice when the TA is evaluated.
- The NMB weekly activity report for August 24–28 listed one new unrelated rail docket, no mediation reassignments, no ratifications or closed cases, and no training or facilitation. It did not list an Air Wisconsin closure. That is not inconsistent with a tentative agreement announced on the final day of the reporting window because the member ratification vote had not yet opened.
- The NMB FY2027 budget justification identified Air Wisconsin as a continuing CWA-AFA mediation case when it was published in April 2026. The August 28 tentative agreement is the newer carrier-specific development and supersedes that budget document as the current procedural signal.
CrewSignal Assessment
This is the week’s clearest measurable outcome. CWA-AFA’s multi-carrier bargaining, legal and communications structure has now helped produce a proposed settlement, but an announcement alone does not establish contract quality. The defensible test is the full agreement: compensation, work rules, job security, implementation dates, retroactivity or signing payments, and the durability of the gains.
The duration remains part of the accountability record. The current round took more than four years from the August 2022 opener and nearly four years beyond the amendable date to reach a TA. A two-year agreement with an eighteen-month opener may limit how long members are locked into the settlement, but it also means another bargaining cycle could begin quickly. CrewSignal will treat ratification and implementation—not the recommendation—as the outcome.
